ANNUAL BAZAAR

Beginning in spring, many of our tenants get together and begin collecting items for our Sterling Village Annual Bazaar (items such as clothing, electronics, knick knacks, etc) that is held in our Community Room. Over the course of three months our volunteers (which consist of our tenants as well as a couple of people from outside volunteers) begin sorting, pricing and storing these items in preparation for our two day Bazaar in June that is held in our Community Room.

Aside from the items donated by our tenants and their families and friends, we also have a drawing for commercially donated items (such as gift cards from local retailers) and a 50/50 cash raffle.

All monies raised through the Annual Bazaar are used for our Annual Picnic and our Annual Holiday Party.

ANNUAL BARBECUE

Each September we have a barbecue in our Community Room that is made possible by the money raised from the Sterling Village Annual Bazaar. A barbecue truck is driven onto the property behind the Community Room where all food is prepared. Our tenants are then invited to help themselves to a wonderful feast that includes:

Hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches with onions and peppers, meatball sandwiches, corn on the cob, french fries and onion rings, fried chicken, watermelon, lemonade and iced tea.

While we all enjoy the feast [click to see BBQ photos], we also enjoy the music of one of our favorite DJs who always gets the crowd singing and dancing. Our tenants look forward to our barbecue with anticipation each year and it is a well deserved reward for all of their hard work and dedication preparing for the Bazaar.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY

Each December we have a holiday party in our Community Room which is also made possible by the money raised from the Sterling Village Annual Bazaar. Our favorite caterer comes in that morning and prepares another superb meal but this time it’s a sit down dinner and our tenants are waited on by the friendly catering staff and once again enjoy the old time classics by our favorite DJ. Although it is not mandatory, many of our tenants dress up in their finest clothing and it is a treat to see them enjoying themselves so much!

SELF ENTERTAINMENT

On the east side of our building (adjacent to the Senior Center) we have picnic tables, benches, charcoal grills, bocce courts and a horseshoe pit which you and your visitors are welcome to enjoy. There is a sidewalk that begins at Sterling Village and leads to the Piscataway Township Senior Center. In the near future a covered walkway will be constructed so that all of our tenants wishing to spend some time at the senior center will be protected from the elements.

There is a sidewalk that wraps completely around our building (four times around is a mile) which many of our tenants use for their daily exercise routine. On the west side of our building is the Piscataway Township walking/biking path that runs parallel to Sterling Village.

The rear patio features an awning and two full patio furniture sets which many of our tenants like to enjoy on warm spring and summer evenings.
